Association of Independent Press organizes debates on social problems

The Association of Independent Press (AIP) gathered at the end of this week 20 persons responsible for social problems from raional authorities from Cimislia, Basarabeasca, Causeni, Leova and Hancesti, representatives of NGOs from the named regions, journalists from local and national institutions at a round table meeting with the topic: “ Social policies at local level: experiences and solutions”. The round table took place in the framework of the project “Establishing efficient partnerships for improving local social services”, accomplished by the Association of Independent Press with the financial support of the DFID department of the British Embassy in the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on collaboration between the local public authorities, civil organizations and mass-media in the aspect of solving harsh social problems and making local services more efficient. The participants exchanged opinions regarding local level social policies. The durable collaboration experience between the center “Youth for youth”, local public authorities and local mass-media. On the basis of the same project, 7 teams of reporters were created that will made study and documentation visits in different regions, published articles about possibilities and experience in solving social problems in local independent newspapers. On the 23rd of June, in the framework of the same project, AIP organized for 9 journalists from national and local newspapers a “press journey” at the Center of Social Reintegration for Youth “Credo” from Ungheni town. In July, AIP will organize other similar actions for studying positive practices of solving existing social problems in rural localities from the republic.
