Association of Foreign Investors confirms there is sufficient sugar

Dinu Armasu, executive director of the Association of Foreign Investors, said the situation at the candies factory “Bucuria” was created not by the shortage of sugar. He stated for Info-Prim Neo that there is enough sugar in the country and if there are economic entities that face shortages, they can import sugar. “I discussed with representatives of the Union of Sugar Producers and they said there is sufficient sugar in Moldova. I don’t know what the problem is, but it surely does not reside in the lack of sugar. There may be speculations, but I cannot say what goals are pursued,” said Dinu Armasu. Earlier, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov also said the quantities of sugar are enough following press reports that the factory “Bucuria” may suspend work owing to a shortage of sugar.
