Association of Deportees will support PL in Sunday’s elections

The Public Association of Deportees of Moldova will support the Liberal Party (PL) headed by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu in the November 28 early legislative elections, the organization’s chairman Ion Fetescu announced in a news conference on Wednesday, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”During a rather short period while in power, the PL has been the only party that tried to get at the historical truth about the tragic repression of the native people of Bessarabia by the Communists,” Ion Fetescu said. According to the data of the assocoation, about 300,000 persons had been deported. The leader of the Public Association of Deportees of Moldova expressed his conviction that in the future Parliament the PL will continue to plead the national cause and to be to a reforming party. Currently, the organization has 32 members who had been jailed or deported in the Soviet period.
