The Association for Family’s Salvation, a newly formed movement of several NGOs and Church representatives, demands Parliament to reject the Antidiscrimination Bill, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At a press conference on Wednesday, March 2, Fr. Petru Pruteanu, representative of the Metropolitan Church of Moldova, read a declaration to the Parliament and Government warning of the potential danger of voting such a law.
According to him, the introduction of the phrase “sexual orientation” infringes the principles of family life and Christian morality and blindly follows instructions from people that are strange to our values and life principles.
“Moldovan families and our country’s demographics are in the middle of a deep crisis, and this bill will only worsen the situation morally and socially”, he stressed.
The Association for Family’s Salvation thinks people’s sex life must remain something private. “We categorically denounce homosexuality and any other deviations from normality. We pity them and are ready to help any person who wants to get rid of this plague, understanding its moral, social, medical and psychic danger”, the priest said.
Vitalie Marian, vice president of the Association “For Family”, said each deputy would get a copy of the declaration. A list of nearly 100,000 signatures of people against this law will be attached to the declaration. Signatures have been gathered since 2008.
The association warns it will organize large-scale, but peaceful manifestations, if the lawmakers approve this bill. “Our protest will be organized according to Christian rules, but we don’t take responsibility for those will try to instigate certain actions”, Vitalie Marian added.
Largely hailed by human rights groups, the Antidiscrimination Bill was approved by the Government on February 17.
The Association for Family’s Salvation is a newly formed movement of several NGOs and groups, representatives of the Metropolitan Churches of Basarabia and of Moldova, and of other denominations.
