The EU Foreign Affairs Council, in a meeting in Brussels on May 23, is to approve a decision on the complete coming into force of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the EU-Georgia Association Agreement on July 1, announced the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, who chaired the seventh ministerial meeting of the Eastern Partnership, IPN reports
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur, taking part in the meeting, underlined the necessity of strengthening cooperation with the Eastern partners before the internal vulnerabilities and external risks.
In his speech, the minister referred to the reform agenda, sector cooperation and the prospects. He voiced hope that the future Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy of the EU will pay greater attention to stability in the eastern neighborhood. The official expressed interest in the cooperation in the common security and defense policy and in counteracting hybrid threats. He encouraged promotion of interconnections between the EaP member states and the EU in the transport and energy sectors and initiatives that can generate economic growth by attracting investment and developing small and medium-sized companies.
Andrei Galbur called for active strategic communication with a view to efficiently informing society about the benefits of the Eastern Partnership. He also pleaded for working out a political outlook for the eastern partners before the EaP Summit of 2017.
