The Association Agreement with the European Union stipulates the principle of ‘solidarity’ for taking joint decisions. If Moldova is affected by certain negative phenomena and economic, social or political tensions, the EU will support the country, said political analyst Viorel Cibotaru.

He has told IPN that the accord envisions the working out of response plans for dealing with asymmetrical risks that appear in the relations between Moldova and other countries. There are stipulated measures to remedy the situation following problems related to migration and bans that can affect Moldova’s economy as well as countermeasures to neutralize possible risks.

The analyst said that if Russia resorts to measures that would negatively affect Moldova, it will unilaterally distance itself from our country.

Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the EU on June 27.
