Assets to the value of over 150 million lei were sequestrated in the Giurgiulești port case. The assets form the share capital of the company that manages the Giurgiulești Free International Port. The sequestration was authorized by the judge of inquiry at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, IPN reports.
The criminal case dates from 2020 and refers to embezzlement committed by former decision makers of the oil company Bemol, more exactly to the illegalities based on which control over the port was obtained.
A manager of the company was charged in June 2022. The assets were sequestrated with the aim of preventing their sale and of repairing the caused damage.
