The assessment of fiscal liabilities through the placement of tax posts at entities will be regulated by law. The Parliament on Friday adopted in first reading relevant amendments to the Fiscal Code, Info-Prim Neo reports. This mechanism of assessing fiscal liabilities will apply to economic entities dealing in the trade sector, public alimentation, mining industry (sand, gravel, stone), hotel industry, transport and communications. The setting up of tax posts will be done at the decision of the Main Tax Inspectorate. The posts will work at least twice in a fiscal year. The lifetime of a post will be at least 30 days and the difference in time between two posts will be no smaller than 60 days. The assessment of the fiscal liabilities will be performed in case it is established that the daily supply of goods or provision of services are by three quarters lower than the amount of goods and services delivered/provided in the period when the tax post is in place. If the assessed income exceeds the income recored in the accounting documents, the difference in income will be taxed at 15 percent. According to Deputy Finance Minister Ion Sturzu, the practice off not paying taxes in a proper manner is widespread in Moldova, and the new rules will be a new instrument in battling this phenomenon. Experience has shown that during the probationary period the tax posts have proven their efficiency – sales have been at least twice larger. The legislative initiative has aroused criticism among a number of opposition lawmakers, who argued the posts would incite corruption among tax inspectors.
