The Party of Communists suggests launching a dialogue on a parliamentary platform. According to Communist MP Artur Reshetnicov, Parliament is obliged to vote in the Cabinet and it is the duty of each parliamentary group to take part in these discussions and make effort to form a government that would cope with the current and future challenges. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the lawmaker said they propose holding a dialogue without political color and without ideologies, IPN reports.

“We are indeed different by our ideologies. We, the Communists, have one view, while the Liberal, Liberal-Democrats, Democrats and Socialists have other views, but the goal of the dialogue is to identity the common points. All the parties represented in Parliament should act to promote the interests of the country and its people. Based on this precondition, we put forward that proposal, intended for all the political forces and MPs,” said Artur Reshetnicov, referring to the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin’s call to form a coalition and support a technocratic government.

The MP said that since 2009 until now, there were held many such negotiations and formed many alliances, but they all deepened poverty and corruption in Moldova. According to him, separate negotiations between parties with a fragile majority of votes, of 51 or 52, will not solve the problem in the medium and long term. The presidential elections next March are another challenge that can bring political instability and turbulence.

“All the coalitions and governments formed after 2009 declared themselves pro-European, but we, the Communists, consider that we must build a European Moldova. European living standards can be achieved by modernizing and developing the country. The name does not matter. It is its content that counts because the people deserve a better life, regardless of age and nationality, ethnicity or political beliefs,” he stated.

Artur Reshetnicov noted that we must not switch suddenly from one extreme to another – we either unconditionally implement the Association Agreement or terminate it. We must show political maturity.  There are many things that we can learn from the EU member states, but should also restore or maintain the relations of friendship with all the Eastern countries, especially Russia. Regardless of the political color of the government, we must not decide to move either to the West or to the East only.
