The applicant for the title of electoral competitor Artur Croitor will campaign with the slogan “Consolidation of society – economic development” whose symbol will be a stork with a branch in its beak. In a news conference at IPN, Artur Croitor said he comes from a family of people of arts. He graduated from school with a golden medal and then studied international relations in Moscow. He knows Greek, English and Russian.
“I expected that civil society would field candidates for President by August 30, but this didn’t happen and therefore I decided to apply for being registered as a candidate,” stated Artur Croitor.
He noted that the electoral legislation places a lot of barriers in the way of those who want to hold senior executive posts, conserves poverty and degradation and the political class that didn’t cope with the economic problems, didn’t unite the people and didn’t develop the country. In this connection, Artur Croitor called on the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu to withdraw from the race for the presidency because he has the reputation of ‘president of dead souls’.
The applicant also said that Moldova is at the border of two worlds, Slavic and Latin, and is actually a bridge between these two worlds. But any bridge is good when is rests on two poles. That’s why it is not right to oscillate between the East and the West. Moldova should become a platform of cooperation between the two worlds.
As President of Moldova, Artur Croitor will convene a National Assembly of the people’s representatives to discuss the national legislation and the country’s Constitution that was adopted 25 years ago without holding a referendum. He said he considers the citizens with a Moldovan identity card Moldovans, regardless of their ethnicity, while the Moldovan language he considers the official language.
