Almost 50 paintings by plastic artist Iurie Platon, made during the last three years, have been displayed in the European Hall of the OSCE Mission in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the opening of the exhibit, art critic Tudor Braga, director of the Exhibitions Center “Constantin Brancusi”, said he has known the artist for a very long time. “Iurie Platon’s works are of a unique professional quality. This means that he surpassed his teachers,” said the critic.
Plastic artist Vasile Dohotaru said he is a good friend of Iurie Platon. “He goes often abroad, but returns with a great thirst for color and for the motherland,” stressed the painter, adding that Iurie Platon’s works have a rare value as they are made by a Moldovan who loves his native land very much.
Actor Sandu Cupcea said that he is impressed by Iurie Platon’s ability to see the reality in a different way. “This combination of shadow and light in his paintings give you a thrill,” he stated.
Painter Emil Cojocaru, who is a professor at the College of Plastic Arts “Alexandru Plamadeala”, said the impressions are special as Iurie Platon’s works are full of harmony. He said he often goes to Iurie Platon’s workshop with his students to admire authentic paintings.
Stage manager Silviu Fusu said Iurie Platon is a unique painter as he works like a jeweler. The smallest painting is 20x30 centimeters. Silviu Fusu said the idea of making three portraits of Eminescu in the three colors of the national flag was brilliant.
Iurie Platon was born in Rezina on July 14, 1963. He studied at the Chisinau School of Arts “Igor Vieru” and then at the Academy or Arts in Tallinn, Estonia. He won prizes at different national and international contests and took part in a lot of exhibitions in Moldova and abroad. His paintings form part of public and private collections in the largest cities of the world.
