Twenty-two young people inaugurated an open-air exhibition entitled "Art against hatred: testimonies of young people” in the center of Chisinau. The exhibition presents works by young artists from both banks of the Nistru River, who speak out against hate speech, prejudice and discrimination, IPN reports.
The exhibition "Art against hatred: testimonies of young people" was inaugurated with the support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in cooperation with the State Teacher Training University "Ion Creangă".
The exhibition consists of posters in various artistic styles, from graphic works to paintings, made by young artists, who participated in a summer camp in Holercani in July this year. The works of art were exhibited on the fence of “Stefan cel Mare si Sfânt" Public Garden at the intersection of 31 August 1989 St and Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni Blvd.
"I want to thank all those who became involved in this project. It is our luck to cooperate with artists from both banks of the Nistru River, who through their talent helped us spread this important awareness message about the negative effects of hate speech," said Bea Ferenci, who leads the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Moldova.
"This camp had an important impact on the students who participated, as well as on us, the teachers who got involved. The students stood out through their creativity in this project, which lasted for almost half a year," said Andrian Cucheriavyi, the representative of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of "Ion Creangă" University and author of two works presented at the exhibition.
David Williams, curator of the exhibition, said he was delighted to cooperate with Moldovan artists and that "the works are phenomenal". He noted that "it is important to treat the topic of hate speech through the angle of art."
The exhibition will also be mounted in Tiraspol and will be open to the public until November 22. Afterward, all the works will be offered to the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of the State Teacher Training University "Ion Creangă".
