The searches carried out at the Sculeni border crossing point were followed by arrests. Contacted by IPN for details, Adrian Bordianu, acting head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, said the searches covered employees of the Border Police and other persons investigated for passive corruption, active corruption and influence peddling. The alleged illegalities have been documented for several months.
Adrian Bordianu stated the operation is ongoing and no other details can be provided. But she confirmed that a number of arrests were made in this case.
The Border Police said that employees of its Inspection Division also take part in the searches at the Sculeni border crossing point. “This is the body responsible for the exanimation of cases of disciplinary deviation and corrupt behavior among personnel and, in this case, it will informationally assist the investigation bodies to elucidate all the circumstance,” the institution said in a press release.
