A woman from a locality of Ungheni district called the police to denounce a man who offered her 1,500 lei to vote in favor of the indicated candidate in the presidential election and to also choose the "No" option in the referendum. According to the General Police Inspectorate, the 26-year-old man turned out to be "the leader of a criminal group of the Shor criminal organization," IPN reports.

As a result of the searches carried out at his home, evidence of his involvement in electoral corruption was collected. There were found money, copies of citizens' identity cards, lists of party members and sympathizers, leaflets with slogans against the constitutional referendum, SIM cards, mobile phones, laptops and a tablet with information relevant to the investigations, as well as lists of observers delegated to monitor the situation inside and outside polling stations and were to be remunerated for influencing the voters’ choice.

A criminal case for electoral corruption was initiated on this case. If the suspect's guilt is proven, he will be punished with a fine of up to 55,000 lei or a jail term of up to 5 years.
