Armed attack staged on war veteran

War veteran Victor Tolici was the target of an armed attack on the night of January 25, the chairman of the Association of the 1992 War Veterans “Tiras-Tighina” Anatolie Caraman has told Info-Prim Neo. Victor Tolici, who is from Vatici village of Orhei district, is a member of the Administration Board of “Tiras-Tighina”. The Association considers that the incident was a threat against Tolici and his daughter, police lieutenant Liliana Vascan, who works at the Orhei Police Commissariat. It was aimed at making the two to stop identifying police officers involved in different corruption schemes. Anatolie Caraman said that before the incident, a group of senior officers in reserve of the Association, including Victor Tolici, informed the district police commissioner about corrupt police officers and their actions. “Regretfully, the commissioner did not react to the war veterans’ complaint. But the corrupt officers heard about it and planned that attack,” he stated. Last night, at about 01.30, an individual fired at the door of the house of the Tolici family from a hunter’s gun. Nobody was hurt. The Association “Tiras-Tighina” will undertake all the legal measures to defend the family and to hold accountable those to blame.
