A coup was attempted on April 7, said the leader of the Communist parliamentary group Maria Postoiko, who was cited to appear before the prosecutors on April 1 to be questioned in the cases related to the April 7 events, Info-Prim Neo reports. Maria Postoiko was quizzed as a witness. Before entering the Prosecutor's Office, the MP told the journalists she is confident the persons to blame will be identified. “On April 7, I was in the office of the Head of Parliament (Marian Lupu was Speaker then – e.n.) and followed the developments from there. I helped the police officers who were injured and needed medical care. There was only one nurse and she could not bandage all those injured,” Maria Postoiko said. The investigation bodies will identify the responsible persons, including those who used torture in the police commissariats, the MP said, underlining that not all the persons who have links with the April events have been questioned, but many of them appear in the images broadcast on TV channels. Maria Postoiko welcomed the creation of the parliamentary commission of inquiry (that is headed by Vitalie Nagachevski – e.n.), but said she cannot say how efficient it is. The commission set up by former head of state Vladimir Voronin immediately after the events, on which Maria Postoiko worked, held only several meetings as it stopped work owing to the early legislative elections. Communist MP Igor Dodod is also expected today at the Prosecutor's Office.
