The visas solicited from Romania via Moldovan travel agencies will be offered for a minimum of 2 nights and 3 days to the Danube Delta and for packages of minimum 5 days of accommodation and 6 days in other traditional tourist zones.
This fact was decided on Wednesday, June 26 at a meeting between the Ambassador of Romania to Chisinau and the main travel operators in Moldova, who discussed solutions to spur the Romanian tourism.
According to a press release from the Embassy, the reduction as of May 29 of the number of persons scheduled online down to 200 was welcomed during the dialogue, as this makes possible receiving a higher number of tourist visa applications.
Following the travel agencies’ demands, tourist visa applications for the groups of children will be assigned priority. At the same time, the representatives of the travel operators in Moldova agreed to request from the Consulate of Romania mainly collective visas, including transit ones.
Previously, the travel agencies in Moldova were concerned about the fact that starting January 2007, after Romania joined the EU and introduced the visa regime, the number Moldovan tourists heading for Romania would significantly reduce. However, official statistics show that in the first quarter this year, the number of tourists who visited Romania increased by about 5.8 thousand persons, or by 89.9% compared with the similar period last year.
