The Cabinet on March 9 approved a series of amendments concerning the indexation and payment of the indexed sums for the deposits made by people in Banca de Economii, IPN reports.
Under the approved amendments, Moldova’s Post Office will be the institution that will receive applications for indexation and will pay the set sums. To benefit from indexation, the depositors must present the identity card and information about the accounts opened before January 1, 1992. If the confirming documents are lost, the applicant will make approaches to Banca de Economii SA, which is in the process of liquidation, to obtain the necessary information.
The Government decision defines the duties of the central commission for the indexation of people’s deposits. The commission will decide the conditions and period of time for submitting applications and the age category of depositors who will benefit from indexation this year.
The indexation of the deposits made by people in Banca de Economii started in 2003. At the first stage, the people get 1 ruble per 1 leu for the first 1,000 rubles deposited by a person. At the second stage, the ratio is of 2.5 rubles:1 leu
