The Chisinau Appeals Court rejected Alexandr Stoianoglo’s request to annul the Supreme Council of Prosecutors’ decision to suspend him from the post of prosecutor general, IPN reports.
“The herring took place. The lawyer’s request to examine the case in a public hearing was rejected. Stoinoglo Alexandr’s request concerning the suspension was dismissed as inadmissible,” it is said on the website of the Chisinau Appeals Court.
The Supreme Council of Prosecutors’ decision was challenged in the Appeals Court the day Stoianoglo was arrested.
Alexandr Stoianoglo was detained on October 5 and was remanded in custody. In several days, the Ciocana court ordered to place him under house arrest for a 30-day period.
The suspended Prosecutor General faces charges of abuse of office, bribery, perjury and facilitation of an organized criminal group. Alexandr Stoianoglo pleads not guilty. The court today is to decide whether to extend the preventive measure or not.
