The inspectors of the Agency for Consumer's Protection (APC) announced they would check the sunglasses on sale. According to a press release of APC, glasses that don't meet quality standards threaten the health of consumers.

Eye doctor Irina Vrabii of the Ophthalmological Hospital “Microsurgery of the Eye” told IPN that bad-quality sunglasses damage the sight. “We can be fooled by the brand on the glasses and buy a fake. After several years of wearing them, the patient can develop sight problems. They can experience headaches, dizziness and irritation of the eyelids”, said Vrabii.

The doctor recommends people to buy quality polarized glasses, which are easy on the retina, allowing it to relax.

Polarized sunglasses with UV protection cost several hundred lei or more, depending on the brand.
