The General Directorate of Residential Management urges residential block managers in the capital to clean allergy-causing ragweeds off the territories they manage.

Head of Sanitation Management Vasile Efros told IPN that the plant can be frequently seen on sidewalks, as well as in courtyards. “We ask residential block managers to combat ragweeds,” said Vasile Efros. He claims that in other countries, in Romania for example, those who fail to rid their territories of the allergenic weed are liable to fines.

Ragweed, also known as ambrosia in Moldova is especially dangerous after pollination. Recently the weed has been expanding. It grows on sidewalks or on unattended fields, in gardens, among cereal and sunflower cultures. It is dangerous, as it is an allergen and, at the end of the summer, beginning of the fall season, it is an aggravating factor for bronchial asthma.
