The administration of S.A. “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, together with housing stock managers, implemented a pilot project to set up electromagnetic meters in order to reduce the difference between the volume of water metered by the common block meter and the one metered by the individual apartment meters, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the water supplier, the meters of the new type were installed instead of the mechanic ones in an apartment building located at 84/4 Albisoara St in Chisinau’s Rascani district. Comparing the data from the mechanical meters for 2012 and those from the new meters for 2013, the company established that the volume of unmetered water decreased from 14.9% to 2% in a period of six months.

The new meters provide a number of advantages, including that they enable to read the data from a distance, with the company’s employees not needing to enter the apartment. They are more resistant and can be installed in different areas, inside and outside. They also contain Info Codes that can provide different kinds of information.
