Apă-Canal Chișinău plans to request the National Agency for Energy Regulation to increase water charges. Socialist councilor Alexandr Odintsov, a member of the water supplier’s Board of Directors, said that the request to the Agency is being drafted and the reason for such a decision is the higher electricity charges, IPN reports.
According to Alexandr Odintsov, such a measure is inevitable. "Because Apă-Canal Chișinău spends more than 120 million lei on electricity, for pumping water," said the councilor.
At the extraordinary meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Alexandr Odintsov noted that both the director and the deputy director of Apă-Canal Chișinău recommended asking for an increase in water charges. The move was also coordinated with the investment partners, with whom a loan to purchase energy-saving pumps is being negotiated.
