The disconnection of residential blocks with big debts towards the water supplier will commence on September 25. The head of the Clients Service of „Apa-Canal Chisinau” JSC (ACC), Mihail Golban, declared that as of next week, 13 blocks from Ciocana and 7 from Botanica districts could be discontinued from water supplies. The buildings are from 4 to 9 floors high, and are under the authority of the Associations of dwellers. The authorities from ACC claim the same measures will be applied to lodgers under management of municipal enterprises.
According to the cited source, at the request of the Government the water supplier did not disconnect blocks with debts in the beginning of summer, but since then the payment volumes reduced considerably, in some cases by 30%. At present, 345 blocks have their water consumption paid up to 50%. According to the ACC representative, previous experience with disconnection shows that half of the disconnected clients pay their debt the first day. The other half partially cover their balance due and presented reassuring letters that they will pay their bills.
Mihail Golban claims that from the 20 apartments that were planned for disconnection with help of the radio guided robot, only 4 were disengaged from the water source. Two apartments could not be disconnected due to worn down pipes. The owners of the other flats immediately paid their bills or assured they will do so in the shortest possible time, and the water supplier recovered a debt of MDL 12 thousand.
Last week, ACC forwarded to judiciary bodies approximately a thousand complaints for overdue water debts payment.
According to data from „Apa-Canal Chisinau” JSC, the overall debts of individual persons are evaluated at MDL 160 million, including a MDL 115 million debt created by the difference of the block counters and the ones from flats.
