Anyone who has been fully vaccinated against Covid is entitled to boosters in Moldova under a Ministry of Health decree.
Prior to this, booster vaccines were only accessible to people aged 60 or older, people with chronic diseases and at-risk groups, including health care workers.
Boosters are given at least six months apart from the second dose in the case of any double-shot vaccine and at least two months apart in the case of the Janssen/Johnson&Johnson vaccine.
According to the latest data published by the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, the efficiency of vaccines against severe forms caused by the Delta variant remains high. Preliminary data coming in about the action of vaccines against the Omicron variant show an efficiency of around 70%.
About 28% of Moldovans are fully vaccinated.
Vaccination against Covid is free and recommended by all national and international health care organizations as a safe way to achieve herd immunity and stop the pandemic.
