Volunteers of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” set up a ‘public tribunal’ before which they imaginarily brought Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco, whom they accused of the murder of a man during hunting in the natural reserve “Padurea Domneasca” a year ago, IPN reports.
The volunteers came together before the Prosecutor General’s Office. They carried placards, saying “Domneasca Forest is the cemetery of the current government” and “SOS. We are governed by criminals”.
The young people reminded that the illegal boar hunting in the Domneasca Forest on December 23, 2012 involved the then Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco, President of the Chisinau Appeals Court Ion Plesca, and vice president of this court Gheorghe Cretu, who later tendered his resignation.
The “Antimafie” Tribunal said that namely Valeriu Zubco is to blame for the commission of the crime, not Gheorghe Cretu, who is accused of accidental killing in this case. One of the young people played the role of the former prosecutor general. He admitted his guilt before the judges and asked to be punished in accordance with the law.
The young people ‘sentenced’ Valeriu Zubco to 25 years in jail, Ion Plesca and Gheorghe Cretu to 10 years behind bars each, while the other participants to 4 years in prison each. The volunteers said that in a democratic country they would have acted namely this way.
The criminal case started against ex-vice president of the Chisinau Appeals Court Gheorghe Cretu over accidental killing is still examined by the Falesti Court. Prosecutor Alex Caraman has told IPN that only the evidence of the accusation has been examined so far. Twelve hearings are to take place in January. Within the same case, there are tried ex-director of the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” Ion Lupu and former guard engineer of the natural reserve “Padurea Domneasca”. At the prosecutors’ request, the two were suspended.
