The People’s Movement “Antimafie” continues to mount the protests started when the new Government was invested. This Sunday, March 1, the supporters of “Antimafie” will come together in front of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”. In a news conference at IPN on February 27, the party’s leader Sergiu Mocanu said that only the protests can bring Moldova back on the path to European integration.
“We know that the people’s revolt is great and the population is dissatisfied with the performance of the political class, especially after November 30,” said Sergiu Mocanu. The leader of “Antimafie” called on the public activists, members of civil society and opinion leaders to join the protests.
“The political message of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” has been the same during four years – we said NO to this political class, we said NO to the clientele parties and it would be a pity if the people continue to mix up the clientele parties with a distinct political message, like that of the Movement “Antimafie”,” stated Sergiu Mocanu.
The leader of “Antimafie” also said that the people would take to the streets because they are dissatisfied with what is going on in the country, but do not do it because of the memory of the April 7, 2009 events and of the events taking place in Ukraine. “Antimafie” will make effort to ensure the security of the people who will attend the protests and will foil any attempt to cause provocations.
Sergiu Mocanu said the protesters will demand that the current government name a foreign person as prosecutor general and ensure independent justice. Only in such conditions will the appropriation of public property be prevented and the corrupt persons be held accountable.
