Antimafia People's Movement Political Party will not put forward any candidates for the position of general mayor of Chisinau at the general local elections on October 20. At a press conference at IPN, the party's deputy chairwoman, Daniela Bodrug, announced that the party would support a joint candidate of the Unionist forces and called on the Unionist political parties to make efforts to identify him.

"The support shall only be valid if the Democratic Party is not admitted in any way to these negotiations," said Daniela Bodrug. Antimafia People's Movement is addressing the Unionist parties, which have already announced their candidates, to withdraw them so as not to hamper the process of identifying a joint candidate.

Deputy chairwoman of Antimafia People's Movement mentioned that the unionist parties’ "participation in desperation" in the elections, each party with its own candidate, will benefit the Socialist MP Ion Ceban. "The votes on the right will be dispersed, and the Socialists have every chance to take the capital in the first round," said Daniela Bodrug.

She also says that it is a shame that ACUM bloc is delaying the proposal of a candidate for the position of Chisinau mayor, while the socialist candidate, announced over two weeks ago, is already involved in electoral activities. "The delay in advancing a candidate by the ACUM bloc seems to be part of a plan agreed on to favour and elect Ion Ceban, a man completely under Igor Dodon’ s influence, as mayor," believes the vice-chairwoman of the Antimafia Movement.

Daniela Bodrug stated that "the position of general mayor of Chisinau municipality has always been important for maintaining the European and, implicitly, the Romanian vector of the Republic of Moldova". At the same time, she said that "due to the unnatural collusion between ACUM Bloc and PSRM, for the first time since the declaration of independence, the mayor of the capital could become a representative of the left, namely the PSRM, a dangerous political organization, funded and run by obscure structures affiliated to the presidential institution of the Russian Federation”.
