The Special Service for Active Influences on Hydrometeorological Processes presented its website – www.antigrindina.md. Director Ion Garaba told a news conference that the site aims to ensure transparency in the institution’s work, IPN reports.

According to Ion Garaba, the site provides general information about the Antihail Service, its goals, activities and team. It also contains information about the areas protected from hail and the list of protected districts, with every mayor’s office being indicated.

The visitors will also be able to follow the information from radars that cover an area of 300 kilometers. They will find out in real time if hail is falling. Ion Garaba said that in the future they will also provide information about the amount of precipitation, which is very useful for farmers. After falls of hail, the visitors will see which settlements were the most affected and the causes of the falls.

“We want to present objective information in an accessible language and to be as open to the people as possible because public money is used and the population should know where it goes,” said Ion Garaba.

Eugeniu Potapov, head of the Antihail Service’s Active Influences Section, said that the Service cooperates with institutions from 24 countries and this website meets the standards in the field.

The site is available in three languages. The information is published in Romanian and translated into Russian and English.

The Special Service for Active Influences on Hydrometeorological Processes protects the crops from hail. The works are performed on an area of about 1.5 million hectares through the agency of 12 special units and 115 antihail rocket launching points.
