“I cannot ignore an emerging trend that can lead to the disappearance of the notions of mother and father from the legislation and as values for society,” Acting President Marian Lupu said, referring to the possibility of Parliament passing the anti-discrimination law, Info-Prim Neo reports. Marian Lupu Friday told the press that the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party will not vote for the antidiscrimination law, arguing that the family consisting of a mother and a father represents a millenary Christian value that is very important for the development of society. The same opinion is shared by the president of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu and the leader of the Communist Opposition Vladimir Voronin. They told the reporters they will oppose the bill that bans discrimination according to the sexual orientation. Moldova’s Metropolitan Church announced that the Synod of the Orthodox Church will demand that the legislative body reject the bill. The antidiscrimination bill was approved by the Government on February 17 and submitted to Parliament for adoption.
