The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime sent the Ciocarliei St case to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. The case involves current and former decision makers of the Chisinau City Hall and Municipal Council. They are suspected of selling four hectares of land situated on Ciocarliei St for derisory prices in 1999-2006, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Center’s officers proposed charging the following suspects – former acting mayor of Chisinau Vasile Ursu, the head of the City Hall’s Land Division Nicolae Craciun and former acting secretary of the Municipal Council Nicolae Manastarli. The four hectares of land were sold to five companies controlled by Oleg Voronin, the son of former President Vladimir Voronin. According to the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who has made public details about the luxury quarter situated on that street this summer, the damage caused to the municipal budget was over 100 million lei. Vladimir Voronin was questioned in this case as a witness.
