Viorel Chetraru, the director of the Center for Economic Crimes and Corruption, has said he is not the instrument of businessman Vlad Plahotniuc and he is not protecting any officers of the Center who allegedly carry out Plahotniuc's illegal orders, Info-Prim Neo reports. Chetrearu's statement came after a former presidential adviser, Sergiu Mocanu, and a handful of businessmen claimed that Vlad Plahotniuc used Anticorruption officers to take over whatever businesses he desired. “They promised evidence, which nevertheless failed to appear. All we hear is speculation, personal attacks and electoral manifestations. We have waited for evidence about the alleged links between the organization that I administrate and businessman Vlad Plahotniuc. Not a thing whatsoever until today”, stated Chetraru, adding he would sue Mocanu for slander. He went on to add that the Center would further treat such allegations with sheer neglect. “The Center asks the media representatives to accept this position and refrain from mentioning such subjects again, whatever the allegations. Our reaction will be complete disregard of this subject”, said Viorel Chetraru.
