Nearly 20 tonnes of scrap metal was found in an Iveco truck which was stopped on Chisinau-Cimislia road. Officers found pipes, valves, motors and other metals, supposedly stolen from Moldcarton enterprise, which entered insolvency proceedings, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release from the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption, the driver said the load was to be delivered to Constanta to be sold. He added he followed instructions from his employer, the administrator company of Moldcarton. Anticorruption officers possess information that another truck loaded with metal from the factory is set to leave illegally.
CCCEC informs that all of enterprise’s goods have been sequestered under writs of execution by banking institutions, and insolvency proceedings have started. “Moldcarton workers have protested in front of the Government building, demanding that the company board fulfilled its contractual obligations towards employees. However, the latter, through such illicit actions, steal the enterprise’s goods to obtain personal income (20 tonnes of metal means about 50,000 lei)”, reads the CCCEC press statement.
The load was sealed until further decisions. The Center takes preparatory steps to initiate criminal proceedings.
