The Border Police received a batch of anti-drones to value of €289,000 whose use will strengthen the institution’s capacity to detect and neutralize airborne threats on the border efficiently and quickly, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the institution.
The systems represent a strategic acquisition and reflect the institution’s effort to improve its capabilities by applying advanced technology to combat illegal migration and terrorist threats. At the same time, 20 border guards participated in a training course on the use of wave jamming systems and unmanned aircraft.
The diversification of the instruments applied at the border became possible thanks to the partnership between the Border Police and GS Foundation, a German NGO, within the Project “Development of the Air Monitoring Unit within the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova. The main goal of the project is to improve aerial surveillance of Moldova’s borders in order to prevent illegal migration and terrorist threats.
