The Romanian gymnasiums from Corjova and Roghi, Dubasari district, were prevented from playing the national anthem and from displaying the flag of the Republic of Moldova at the opening of the new school year. The information was provided by Alexandru Postică, Promo-LEX Association program director.

"Similar problems that arose in other schools have been intensely publicized in recent years, which is why the separatist authorities have not dared to intervene. I do not exclude that problems did not arise because they were kept under observation. However, problems occurred in the Corjova and Rochi gymnasiums, both less visible in the public space”, said Alexandru Postică.

The Promo-LEX program director said that Promo-Lex had a direct connection with the heads of the Romanian educational institutions, which are located to the left of the Dniester, in order to monitor their situation in relation to the Tiraspol separatist authorities. Moldovan officials were notified of the situation involving the two gymnasiums, so as to bring the issue to discussion during the next 5 + 2 format meeting.

Svetlana Krasheninnikova, the Corjova Gymnasium director, told IPN that, despite the ban, the students present at the back-to-school event played the state anthem of the Republic of Moldova. "The students held the flags of the Republic of Moldova", said the director. Svetlana Krasheninnikova added that she wants the situation to improve so that the school she runs can celebrate the beginning and end of the school year, as any other Romanian school in Moldova.

A similar situation at the Roghi Gymnasium was confirmed for IPN by the director of the institution, Marina Tîrbu. "Before the start of the new school year, a separatist representative warned that the anthem singing and flag of the Republic of Moldova display should not occur at the back-to-school festivities. Otherwise, we were threatened that the entire event would be cancelled", said Mariana Tîrbu.

The Roghi Gymnasium director specified that the students played the state anthem accompanied by an accordion and had tricolor badges on their chest. "I hope the future bring peace and I hope that children can learn undisturbed", said Mariana Tîrbu.
