The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) has today publicly warned the private radio station “Antena C” for non-observance of the political-social balance and pluralism and for violating the rights of the programme consumer.
The BCC members monitored two news programmes aired by the radio stations on May 29 and found that they practically lacked news covering the election campaign.
Antena C manager Veaceslav Satnic stated that such news items were included in other newscasts and disputed the relevance of the BCC monitoring report, which sampled only two news programmes.
Not any of those other 9 radio stations monitored on the same day was imposed similar sanctions on, as the BCC members agreed that the stations respected to a smaller or greater extent the provisions of the legislation.
A week ago, BCC also warned “Moldova 1” and NIT channels over news bias.
This is the third sanction imposed on Antena C after it had been privatised in a move contested by the civil society, politicians and foreign officials.
