The Administration Board of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved a new regulation concerning the metering of electric power for commercial purposes, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Agency. The ANRE drafted the regulation in compliance with the new law on electric power, which specifies the next terms of opening the electricity market – until January 1, 2013 for non-household consumers and until January 1, 2015 for household consumers. The regulation describes the principles and rules of measuring electric power for commercial purposes and is intended for producers, operators of transportation networks and systems, operators of distribution networks, suppliers and consumers. The regulation defines the functions and obligations of the electric power market participants as regards the metering of electricity for commercial purposes, the types of metering points, the rules of buying, installing, using and maintaining the metering equipment. It contains provisions that allow the non-household consumers to reduce the costs incurred when purchasing power metering equipment. Under the regulation, the non-household consumers have the right to choose the type of electronic meters they want to install and the place where to set them up. There was set a new time limit for adjusting the power metering equipment to the requirements laid down in the regulation. The meters that will be used when the new regulation comes into force, but do not meet its requirements can be used by non-household consumers until 2012.
