ANRE denounces 'assassination attempt' against Nicolae Raileanu

Nicolae Raileanu is the victim of an assassination attempt – this is the official position of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), announced through a press release. The car of the ANRE director exploded on Nicolae Testemitanu Street, outside the Oncologic Hospital, on Tuesday evening, April 10, Info-Prim Neo reports. ANRE recalls that the explosion took place in the moment Nicolae Raileanu entered the car and started the engine. The victim suffered light injuries and survived thanks to help from nearby people who took him out of the burning vehicle. Criminal proceedings were initiated with investigators considering the variant of arson. The traces of a grenade were found at the place of the explosion. Nicolae Raileanu thinks the attempt is related to his professional activity. The ANRE leadership considers the explosion part of a larger series of actions meant to intimidate ANRE directors and employees. In November-December 2011, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the police were notified about anonymous letters of a denigrating nature and other actions directed against ANRE workers, reads the press release. “The ANRE leadership guarantees it will continue to properly fulfill its legal duties and hopes that law enforcement bodies will be able to find and punish those who planned and carried out the assassination attempt”, concludes the ANRE press release.
