The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) has informed about the acquittal of Alexei Alexeev, who was accused three years ago of "bodily injury or damage to health committed against a person performing official duty". On September 18, 2017, Alexei Alexeev was driving a minibus which was carrying an acoustic system to a rally outside the public television station. He was detained for allegedly committing violence against police officers.

He was charged and held in custody for eight days and 51 days under house arrest, while his case was being brought to justice.

After the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases dropped the charges, the Centru District Chișinău Court acquitted Alexei Alexeev.

According to the PG, Alexei Alexeev's name is on the list of 38 political cases. Presumably, the cases involve people who were prosecuted and tried on political grounds.

By a provision issued in February by the Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo, a file control and monitoring group was established. The decision was prompted by the PACE Declarations and Report, by non-governmental organization statements and was a result of civic and political party activism. Additionally, multiple referrals received by the prosecutor general helped draft a list of alleged political cases.
