The People's Republican Party’s leader Nicolae Andronic stated that he would sue the Justice Minister, for its refusal to register the modifications in the party’s statute, approved in conformity with the new law regarding political parties, on Monday, November 3, at a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. The party’s president says that the reason invoked was the lack of the first copy of the state tax bill, although it is kept in the banking institution which issues it. Also, they were demanded to present some additional documents, needed to register the new organizations, Nicolae Andronic specified. According to him, the Justice Ministry has argued its refusal with the fact that the party’s statute does not contain the body empowered to represent the organization in relations with the public authorities and other persons, and the party’s abbreviated name misleads regarding its juridical form of organization. Nicolae Andronic thinks that this refusal is a way to hinder the party to take part in the 2009 parliamentary elections. “The Justice Ministry proves that it does not observe the law, and it is led by the governance,” the party’s leader stated. According to the party’s deputy president, Iurie Emilian, the Justice Ministry’s arguments are a clear proof that the party’s statute has not been studied. Redacting modifications to documents concerning the party’s constitution were made on Saturday, September 27, within the Second Extraordinary Congress. According to the new law on parties, all the political organizations from Moldova were to bring documents about their constitution until October 1, 2008. Previously, the European Action Movement announced its intention to sue the Justice Minister because the same reason.
