Annual Teacher’s Conference held in Chisinau

Teachers from Chisinau are aware of the fact that the quality of the educational is a compulsory requirement for a modern educational system, and in order to achieve the desired quality government’s support is needed. This was the conclusion of the annual conference of teachers from Chisinau. The principle of „Stefan cel Mare” high-school, Nicolae Stratulat, is also an adept of the idea that the quality of the education first of all depends on the teachers. But first of all the schools must be equipped with more didactic material. Nina Mihalache, teacher of school nr. 95, considers that the wages of the teachers should be bigger, and that teachers should have the financial possibility to buy all the necessary didactic materials. Ninei Mihalache also believes that some books should be revised so they would be more accessible to pupils. Teachers also requested the assembly of a municipal fund for schools. Svetlana Istrati, principal of the „Mihai Viteazul” high-school, stated that the MDL 400 offered to 6 700 pupils as a financial aid to preparations for the new study year are not enough to prevent schools desertions. Svetlana Istrati also stated that a quality education depends also on the health of the children, thus underlining the lack of doctors and malnutrition in schools. The teachers also commented that the government should enforce by Law the responsibilities of parents in the educational process, as many children leave school because of them. At the end of the conference, a declaration was assembled containing suggestions on how to improve the quality of the educational system. In Chisinau municipal there are 330 schools and kindergartens.
