The annual allowance intended for executive and teaching personnel of public general education institutions was raised from 2,000 lei to 4,000 lei. Teachers will get the higher allowance as from this year, according to a decision approved by the Cabinet on February 23, IPN reports.
The annual allowance is a lump-sum payment that can be used to purchase artistic literature, office supplies, Internet services, teaching aids, computers, etc.
Each recipient of this allowance by December 31 must present documents showing how the money was used to the education institution’s administration.
A sum of 172 million lei was earmarked in the 2022 state budget for increasing the allowance. Over 43,000 teachers and managers of education institutions benefit from such an allowance.
