German investors do not regret the decision to come to the Republic of Moldova and believe that they have made good investments that make sense. In the video interview given to the IPN Press Agency, German Ambassador to Chisinau, Angela Ganninger, has said that German investors sometimes have problems finding qualified labour.

According to the diplomat, some German investors have been in Moldova for quite a while, whereas others keep coming. "Last week I witnessed the opening of a few stores by Kaufland. There is also the productive sector. All these companies are located in free trade areas, thanks to the functional services, for example, the fast and correct customs services”, said Angela Ganninger. The ambassador has also spoken about certain particular cases when German investors encountered problems arising from "insufficient justice", but she hopes that they will remain in the past.

The German diplomat said that the fields of democracy, civil society, public administration, but also the development of a sustainable economy were part of the two priority directions identified by Germany and the Moldovan authorities, which required German support.

"It's about introducing better, more transparent procedures, supporting the civil society. When it comes to sustainable economy, what matters is improving the basic conditions for the business environment, for people to achieve welfare in their country, because unfortunately, many people in Moldova leave their homeland,” said Angela Ganninger.

The head of the diplomatic mission has mentioned that Germany is also carrying out projects aimed at drinking water supply in the south of the Republic of Moldova, the energy efficiency of some hospitals and projects that allow young people to learn a trade. "Even if we do not develop social projects directly in the Republic of Moldova, there are many social effects," said Angela Ganninger.

The German diplomat mentioned that the 2014 banking scandal was a turning point for re-establishing relations with the beneficiaries of the projects implemented by the German side. "Subsequently, no one left the money here without strict control. Donation conditions and controls tightened. We owe our taxpayers to make use of the money the way they intended to,” said Angela Ganninger, who specified it was normal for donors to have harsher conditions.

The video-interview given to the IPN Press Agency by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Moldova Angela Ganninger is part of "Relations of the Republic of Moldova with development partners" cycle supported by Hans Seiddel German Foundation.
