We need friends who will help us achieve the set objectives,” said Vlad Filat. The Moldovan Premier also said that at the meeting with Andrius Kubilius they discussed issues concerning the bilateral relations and future joint measures. “We are convinced that the Lithuanian delegation's visit will contribute to the development of the bilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of our countries,” he said.
The Lithuanian Premier said Lithuania is ready to provide assistance to Moldova in implementing European reforms and standards. “We will back Moldova in its efforts to sign the association agreement with the EU and agreements that will provide for a liberalized visa regime and free trade,” he said.
In a communique issued by the Government of Moldova, it is said that during the meeting of the two officials that was held in the first half of the day, Vlad Filat told his Lithuanian counterpart that Moldova hopes Lithuania will help it in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process when it takes over the chairmanship of the OSCE in the second half of this year.
