The Venice Commission said that reforming the electoral system is the sovereign right of the Republic of Moldova. If the proposed reform is not adopted by broad consensus, the recommendations is not to do this reform, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu stated after the June 16 meeting of the Commission, where this adopted opinions that critically assess the draft law for Moldova’s electoral system for the election of Parliament, IPN reports.
Andrian Candu stated for Realitatea.md that a part of the Venice Commission’s recommendations on the proposed reform refer to the formation of constituencies, the vote in the diaspora, the vote of the Transnistrians and others. These aspects will be considered through public debates so that the bill is improved.
As to the recommendation about broad consensus, the Speaker stated additionally for Deschide.md that this consensus will be ensured and everything possible will be made for all the recommendations of the Venice Commission to be adopted.
