Head of Parliament Andrian Candu issued a public invitation to the leaders of all the parliamentary parties to meet to discuss possibilities of forming a broad government coalition on November 24. He made the call in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

“Next Tuesday, I will make effort to convene all the parliamentary groups. I call on all the parties, regardless of their color, to come. We must see what we can do further. These will be consultations to examine possibilities of overcoming the crisis and of regulating the Parliament’s work. I turned from a Speaker into a vote hunter. I have to determine who is absent and why and to include particular bills in the agenda. It depends on the number of votes. I urge the parties to accept the invitation as we must form a coalition,” stated Candu.

He made it clear that the PDM could make some concessions. “We could accept the PLDM’s conditions for them to take part in governance. But we also take into account the opinions of the other parties. We can support a technocratic government. I discussed with Valeriu Strelet. If there are ministers representing the PDM who do not do their job, we should analyze things and these could be replaced. If we re-form the government coalition, no party members will be named to posts. We start everything from zero. The PSRM demands that particular officials should be dismissed, like the governor of the National Bank of Moldova. We are looking for candidates for this post, but we do not have the necessary number of votes in Parliament,” said the Speaker.

Candu added that the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU should remain a priority for the future government, but there are now no chances to ensure the European integration. “There is no other way to develop the country than through the Association Agreement. As we disappointed the people and the European officials, we cannot speak about Moldova’s entry into the EU. We turned from a success story into its opposite owing to the bank frauds, the delay in investing the Government, etc. I understood that those from the EU are very upset. All the European officials said the EU remains committed to helping Moldova in the transformation process, but it is us who must do the homework, not they,” he stated.
