MP Andrian Candu, former Parliament Speaker, said that the Democratic Party will most definitely vote for the resignation of the government led by Maia Sandu, given the current situation in the country, namely the lack of results and competences of the current executive. However, according to the MP, this does not mean that the PDM is back in power and that it has any plans on a potential coalition.
"The government of Maia Sandu is a failure, which disappointed many people inside the country and abroad. That is why it must remain in the annals of history, not in government", said Andrian Candu on the Publika TV show "Fabrika". According to him, the current ministers are incompetent and do not know how to deliver results to the people.
Andrian Candu said that, for the moment, he does not have an answer whether the Democratic Party will associate itself with other groups in order to form a coalition in Parliament. Additionally, he said that the PDM would collaborate with those who are putting the interest of citizens first and would be ready to initiate and continue social projects that aim to improve the lives of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. "I would initiate talks with those who would agree to offer 200 lei on a monthly basis to each child, up to the age of 18", he exemplified.
Moreover, the Democrat said that the PDM will seek solutions to avoid snap parliamentary elections, even though the party has momentum after obtaining a good score in the local general elections that were held recently. "We should not get drunk on cold water and we should distinguish local and parliamentary elections. Community leaders and personalities were elected into office at the local elections. The PDM has as members very good people for a long time. In the context of parliamentary elections, we must ask ourselves whether Moldovan citizens want to participate in elections and whether the citizens are not tired of confrontations", said the politician.
Later during the day, the Sandu Government will present its initiative to assume responsibility for amending the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, which, if accepted, would mean that the Prime Minister is going to put forward candidates to the Superior Council of Prosecutors for the position of General Prosecutor of the Republic of Moldova. In order to block this procedure, the Parliament has to initiate a motion of censure, which will lead to the resignation of the government. Otherwise the bill is enacted into law. The Socialist Party group, the ACUM bloc’s partner in the ruling coalition, said that it is drafting a motion of censure, while the oppositioning Democratic Party group withdrew its motion against the current government, which was previously filed.
