Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu assures that the money stolen from the banking system will be recovered in a year or two and the people should not worry that they will be obliged to repay the debt to the National Bank of Moldova during 25 years. The issue was developed in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.
“These are speculations used in the election campaign. Now that things started to move in the justice sector and we have the first cases and condemnations, all the money will be recovered during at most two years. Many persons speculate on the debt, but not many collected information to see the real situation,” stated the Speaker.
According to Adrian Candu, over 700 million lei was recovered as a result of the liquidation of the three banks. The property of persons investigated for the theft from banks was confiscated. This is estimated at 1.5 billion lie. “A preliminary report by Kroll shows that an important sum of the money stolen from the banking system was localized and this can be recovered,” he said.
The Speaker also said that the Government has no other option than to repay the money borrowed from the National Bank of Moldova. “The Government had to borrow this money from the National Bank. The depositors of the three robbed banks were saved; the economy was saved. This money must be repaid. It will bring profit that will be used for the benefit of the people,” stated Andrian Candu.
