The Head of Moldova’s Parliament Andrian Candu will take part in the festivities that will be held in Vilnius on March 10-12 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, IPN reports.
The legislative body of Lithuania (Seimas) will hold a solemn sitting on March 11, when the Declaration of Independence was signed. It will involve Parliamentary Speakers from a number of European states, diplomats, politicians, and experts. Discussions will be held within a roundtable meeting entitled “Small countries in the current geopolitical context: lessons of history and current challenges”.
While in Vilnius, Andrian Candu will have meetings with the Head of the Seimas Loreta Graužiniene, the Speaker of Latvia Inara Mūrniece, the Speaker of Sweden Urban Ahlin, the Speaker of Poland Bogdan Borusewicz and with the chairman of the Seimas’ friendship group with Moldova Sergej Ursul.
The Republic of Lithuania is the first Soviet republic that proclaimed its independence from the USSR, on March 11, 1990.
