The parliamentary agenda until the presidential elections will not include subjects that can cause intense political debates so as not to use the Parliament’s rostrum for electoral purposes, Speaker Andrian Candu stated in a meeting with a Venice Commission delegation that came to Moldova on a fact-finding visit, IPN reports.

According to the legislature’s press service, the visit takes place in connection with the endorsement by the Venice Commission of the bill on the ethnic-cultural status of Taraclia district.

The Speaker appreciated the interest with which the Venice Commission follows the developments in Moldova, saying the provided expertise is useful in the efforts made to implement the reform agenda in Moldova in an accelerated way. He also referred to the priorities of the autumn session of Parliament. “The draft laws that will be included in the agenda will be of public interest such as, for example, the ensuring of the energy sector’s security, fulfillment of the IMF’s preconditions, etc.” said Andrian Candu.

The delegation of the Venice Commission is paying a visit to Moldova on September 11-14. The officials will have meetings with ministers, MPs and representatives of the diplomatic corps working in Chisinau. The delegation will also make a visit to Taraclia.
